TenneT is a leading European Transmission System Operator (TSO) and plays a key role in the energy transition. With more than 23,500 kilometers of high-voltage connections and thousands of employees, we ensure a reliable and secure electricity supply in the Netherlands and large parts of Germany.
You will be working within the Digital & Technology Transformation (DTT) unit. This unit is responsible for driving digital innovation, IT transformation, and ensuring secure and reliable digital operations across TenneT. Within DTT, you will operate in a team focused on Security, Risk, and Compliance, supporting business continuity and information security initiatives across multiple business units.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary environment where collaboration with IT, security, and business stakeholders is essential to ensure operational continuity and resilience.
The Data Engineer is an experienced Power BI Dashboard Developer to design, build, and optimize solutions that support data-driven decision-making. The consultant will work in the Security, Risk & Compliance team and closely with data engineers and IT teams to transform business requirements into interactive dashboards, reports, and analytical insights.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in Microsoft Power BI with a solid understanding of data modelling and IT processes.
Tasks include:
• Dashboard & Report Development.
• Design and develop interactive Power BI dashboards and reports.
• Translate business requirements into meaningful visualizations and KPIs.
• Create user-friendly reports tailored to different stakeholder groups.
• Ensure consistency in reporting standards and visualization best practices.
• Create and document data models, solutions, data definitions, and technical designs.
• Ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency.
• Gather business requirements through workshops and interviews.
• Advise stakeholders on reporting possibilities and analytical approaches.
• Provide demonstrations and user training sessions.
Profile
TenneT is seeking a Data Engineer who combines strong technical expertise in Power BI dashboard development with the organizational insight and communication skills needed to gather business requirements, translate them into effective reporting solutions and engage stakeholders in the proposed approach.
What do you bring?
• At least 4–8 years of experience in Business Intelligence and reporting.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI.
• Strong knowledge of: Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service and Dataflows.
• Experience in developing and optimizing Power BI queries using Power Query (M Language), SQL, and data transformation techniques.
• A background/experience in Security, Risk & Compliance.
• Ability to translate business needs into reporting solutions.
• Experience with data modelling and dimensional modelling techniques.
• Experience integrating multiple enterprise data sources.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience facilitating stakeholder workshops.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Proactive and results-driven with a continuous improvement focus.
• Good command of English language. Dutch language is a plus.
Practical information
• A Certificate of Conduct (VOG) and a UVO screening must be obtained before the candidate can start.
• This is temporary role of 3 months, also suitable for freelancers*
• It is possible to fullfill this role in 32 hours per week, but 40 has a strong preference.
• Interviews: maximum of 2 rounds of online interviews.
• If there are enough suitable candidates this role can be closed on a earlier date or time.
*PLEASE NOTE: We no longer work with a ZZP Indirect construction within TenneT. This will be a fee-only construction where € 1,45 of the margin is retained from the supplier. After 1 year worked, the supplier will definitely leave out of the chain. So take this into account.

Screening:
