For TenneT, we are looking for an experienced Finance Project Controller.

Role Overview:
As Project Controller, you play a pivotal role in steering and monitoring progress toward achieving key project objectives. In this position, you act as the lead project controller for currently 4 major cross-border IT projects, effectively operating as a programme controller. This means you are not only responsible for the financial management of individual projects, but also have operational influence on the project control setup in both the Netherlands and Germany.

A core responsibility of this role is to establish and safeguard the financial governance framework for these complex international initiatives now and for in the future. You design and implement structures, processes, and reporting standards that ensure transparency, consistency, and compliance across borders—laying the foundation for sound decision-making and effective risk management at the programme level.

You support programme and project leads in making the best possible decisions, acting as their financial sparring partner. You manage financial operations and are accountable for timely, reliable, and accurate project planning, forecasting, reporting, and risk control at the corporate level.

Key Responsibilities:
• Financial Coordination: Responsible for all planning and control activities, including budgeting, forecasting, financial, and management reporting according to agreed quality and timeliness.
• Performance Analysis: Analyse project progress in terms of budget, time, quality, and scope to identify opportunities and threats, ensuring mitigating actions are initiated.
• Risk Management: Ensure insight into project complexity and risks, challenge mitigating measures, and assess their financial implications in forecasts.
• Information Assurance: Provide timely, reliable, transparent, and steering-relevant financial information to optimize business processes and results.
• Strategic Support: Act as a sparring partner for program leads and project leads, offering solicited and unsolicited advice to achieve objectives.
• Governance Documentation: Support in preparing and reviewing project governance documents for Portfolio Boards and steering committees.
• Business Case Development: Contribute to the setup and tracking of developments in Business Case Calculations, particularly financial forecasts and financial paragraphs.
• Dedicated Program Controller:
• Oversee the financials of the program and direct how and when information should be reported, enriched, or specified.
• Ensure all financial information complies with IFRS (leading ledger).
• Prepare program consolidated overviews, corporate business cases, forecasts, and budgets based on input from within the program (e.g., Program Manager and others).
• Align with country project controllers and country business controllers to ensure timely and complete compliance.
• Departmental Contribution: Participate in project overarching topics within the Business Guidance department, including portfolio reporting, control, process optimization, and integration with other company investment portfolios and processes.

Team Collaboration:
You will work within the Business Guidance (BGD) team, which includes business controllers, project controllers, and project accountants. You will collaborate continuously with colleagues inside and outside the BGD, acting as a connector and challenger, while diving deep into data to gain insights on project performance and process adherence. Your excellent networking skills and clear communication style will be essential during meetings with various internal and external stakeholders.

Profile
• Proven academic working/thinking level with a relevant degree in Business Economics, Business Administration, or similar.
• At least 8 years of relevant (multi-cultural) work experience in Project Control, with significant experience in managing large, international IT projects.
• Strong analytical abilities, independent judgment, results- and solution-oriented mindset, and proficiency in ERP systems and Excel.
• Attributes: Innovative, creative, able to cope with change, autonomous, and capable of creating a strong helicopter view and structuring work processes.
• Collaboration: Focused on teamwork, able to challenge with TenneT's interests in mind, and politically and organizationally sensitive while remaining honest and straightforward.
• Travel: Willingness to travel between locations in Arnhem and Bayreuth.
• Language: Fluent in English, German and Dutch are serious benefits.
• Personality: Enjoys having fun and a good laugh.

Remainder:
• VOG must be received before a candidate can start;
• A Pre Employment Screening (PES) is carried out as standard upon commencement of employment;
• Location: Arnhem MCE (Fixed days: Tuesday and Wednesday)| Other days hybrid;
• Rate depends on the knowledge and skills of a candidate.

• Suppliers of candidates must be aware of the applicable laws and regulations in the field of employment conditions and the (TenneT) collective labor agreement. This commitment falls within scale 9 of the TenneT collective labor agreement;

Screening:
• Pre-employment screening: If the candidate is allowed to start at the client, a pre-employment screening will take place. We will then send you the necessary documents. Your candidate may only start after completing the pre-employment screening. The VOG application is part of the screening from Magnit, the VOG must be received before the candidate can start;

• The candidate has proof of identity (a passport or identity card), which is valid at intake and on the start date of the candidate's contract and can be submitted for verification.
