About TenneT, Unit, Department and Team
TenneT is a leading European transmission system operator and plays a key role in the energy transition. With more than 23,500 kilometres of high-voltage connections and nearly 5,000 employees, we ensure a safe and reliable electricity supply in the Netherlands and large parts of Germany.
You will be working within Large Projects Offshore 2GW Project Management, responsible for the preparation and realization of large high-voltage infrastructure projects. Within LON-2G-P2-PM, you will be part of a department focused on project execution and technical oversight of HVDC and platform systems.
You will join a multidisciplinary team of approximately 13 professionals, while also working closely with the HVDC team of around 15 specialists. Together, these teams contribute to the modernization, expansion and sustainability of the Dutch high-voltage grid.
The role
How do you keep the Netherlands powered? As Quality Engineer (HVDC & Platform Systems) you act as the project-level quality overseer for HVDC and platform systems. While formally part of the quality team, you functionally report to the HVDC/automation team for all project-related quality matters.
Your responsibilities include:
• Maintaining a risk-based overview of the largest quality and compliance risks across all vendor packages, including HV and LV systems, panels, automation, telecom and preservation
• Monitoring vendor QC documentation and ensuring compliance with Employer Requirements
• Assessing craftsmanship and build quality of panels and equipment, identifying issues related to wiring practices, terminal connections, internal segregation, mechanical assembly and preservation
• Tracking and following up on major non-conformities and open points, ensuring timely closure and escalation where required
• Supporting discipline leads with quality-related issues and providing clear insight into critical project risks
• Participating in audits and inspections at a high-level oversight (without performing FATs directly)
What do you bring?
Knowledge and Competence
Regulatory and Standards Awareness
• Knowledge of HV/LV directives including Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU and EMC Directive 2014/30/EU
• Familiarity with IEC standards such as IEC 62271, IEC 60076, IEC 61439, IEC 61850, IEC 60204-1 and IEC 61508
• Knowledge of offshore preservation standards such as ISO 12944 and DNV guidelines
Practical Skills
• Ability to recognize poor craftsmanship in wiring, panel assembly, busbars and mechanical systems
• Capability to assess vendor packages for compliance with applicable standards and Employer Requirements
• Skilled in identifying and prioritizing major project risks without performing detailed testing or FATs
• Strong follow-up skills in tracking non-conformities and ensuring closure
Quality Management
• Understanding of ISO 9001 quality management principles
• Experience with risk-based inspection planning
• Ability to consolidate findings and provide clear reporting to project management
A UK-based candidate is considered a strong advantage.

In this role, you combine technical expertise with a sharp eye for quality and risk – ensuring that critical project issues are identified, managed and resolved in time to keep the energy transition on track.
Conditions:
• At entry, TenneT performs a Pre-Employment Screening;
• Initial contract is for 12 months, with possibility of prolongation. Project is expected to be finished within 2 years;
• Duty station is Stafford, UK - with frequent travel to sites within the UK and sporadic travel to the Netherlands (Arnhem) and other EU-locations (at least once per month);
• The candidate will have two interviews with TenneT.
PLEASE NOTE: We no longer work with a ZZP Indirect construction within TenneT. This will be a fee-only construction (after 12 monthts, the fee only contract will end) where € 1,45 of the margin is retained from the supplier.
Additional information:
• Suppliers must be aware of the laws and regulations regarding employment conditions and Tennet’s Collective Labour Agreement. This assignment is placed in scale 8;

Screening:
• Pre-employment screening: If the candidate is selected to start, a pre-employment screening will be executed. We will send you the required documents to be filled in and returned as soon as possible. Your candidate is only allowed to start after the pre-employment screening has been completed successfully. The VOG Application is part of the screening. The VOG must be received before the candidate could start;
• All submitted candidates must be in possession of a valid Passport or ID card, which must be taken along to the interview and at the start of the assignment.
